How
To Balance Work And The Rest Of Your Life
By
Mark Romero
If
you are going to be successful in life
you are going to have to work...HARD!
How
many times have we all heard that?
Whether
it was from our parents, teachers or bosses,
we have all been raised to believe that
hard work is the key to success.
Do
people tell us that because that is the
way things really are or is it that way
because that is what we have been conditioned
to believe?
What
would you say if I told you that nothing
could be farther from the truth?
In
fact, the belief that we need to work
hard is one of the biggest causes of health
problems, troubled relationships, premature
aging, discontent, alienated children
and a lack of fulfillment in life!
I
will never forget the day my dad called
me and asked me if I was working long
and hard hours. I was in a new sales position
and easily putting in twelve hours plus
a day. My dad then told me something that
forever changed my life. He said, "don't
make your life all about work. I did,
and I came home one day to find you kids
had all grown up and I had missed it all
and I can never have that back! Don't
make the same mistake as me."
He
was right, throughout my childhood I never
saw my dad except for the weekends. He
was off to work before I got up and came
home after I was in bed.
After
that phone call I made the decision to
put in my eight hours a day and no more.
I started to schedule time to work out,
play music and do the things that fed
my soul. It was a risk and was contrary
behavior to what I had been raised to
believe but, I did it anyways.
What
happened next blew me away!
I
found that I had more energy, was happier,
felt better about my life and was more
positive. My sales exploded and I prospered
more than I ever did working all of those
long hours.
I
realized hat the belief that one has to
work hard to succeed was a lie and the
key was to work smart and take the time
to do the things in your life that feed
your soul!
Are
you working hard and long hours?
As
things in the economy have shifted in
a negative way we tend to let fear take
over and respond by working even longer
and harder hours.
I
want to challenge you to take the leap
of faith and start to create more harmony
between the different aspects of your
life.
Take
time to exercise and get outside and breath
in the air!
Schedule
time to do the things that feed your soul!
Spend
time and be present in your relationships
with friends, family and significant others!
What
ever the different aspects of your life,
take action to day to create more of a
balance and harmony.
Try
this for just one month. I guarantee it
will transform your life, work, relationships,
and greatly increase your joy and satisfaction
in life.
And
guess what? If you are more joyful and
satisfied in your life, you are going
to open the door for more prosperity,
success, joy, health and vitality in your
life. I guarantee it!
